The following FAQs are provided to give our patients guidance. The information following is subject to change at anytime, without notification. We will be updating these as needed and the following is not meant to be all inclusive.

Q: Why does it take so long to get in for an appointment?
A: As Endocrinologists, we are specialists focused on specific diseases and need to address all aspects of these diseases. We need to take extra time, so we are not able to see the large number of patients that primary care physicians can see. In addition, there are few Endocrinologists, compared to the need. If you feel you need to be seen sooner than your scheduled appointment, have your primary care physician call us to go over your case.

Q: Do I need a referral?
A: As of April 1st, 2009, we are requiring all new patients to have a referral, with the only exception of diabetes management.  Please contact your Primary Care Provider for this.  With the referral, we require pertinent clinical information (office notes, labs, radiology reports, pathology reports) is sent to our office before an appointment is made.

Q: Do I still need a primary care physician?
A: Yes. As specialist, we are trained to specifically diagnose and managed all areas of Endocrinology. We ask that you still see your primary care for all other areas of your health. If you need primary care, we have a list of physicians that will be able to care for you.

Q: What do I need to bring to my appointment?
A: For your initial visit, you will need to bring PATIENT FORMS.  These forms need to be completed before you arrive to your appointment.  If you are not able to print these forms, please contact our office.

Q: I had lab work done, and I have not been call with my results. What do I do?
A: We will go over all your results in detail at your appointment. If no appointment is scheduled, please call us to make one. If you had labs done at your last appointment, please wait at least 7 days before you call us for results. If you had several tests done on the lab specimen, we will wait until all results are back before we review and notify the patients.

Q: It is after work hours, how do I get a hold of my provider?
A: We all have families and cherish our time with them as you do. As a courtesy, one of the providers is on call at all times, but please reserve after-hour calls for only urgent calls that can not wait until next business day. It may take several hours before we are able to get back to you. If it is a medical emergency, call 911.

Q: How do I get a refill on my medications?
A: We will only refill medications that were prescribed by our providers. The easiest way to get a refill is to have your pharmacy send us notification that a refill is due. We will fax back an approval. It may take over 24 hours to get the fax and approval. We recommend starting that process at least 7 days before you prescription will run out.

If a prior authorization is required by your insurance, it can delay your refill for more than 2 weeks, so start the process early to prevent disruption in treatment.
